ABOUT US

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria popularly referred to as MSSN was established on April 18th 1954 and was officially launched at the Ansarudeen Alakoro School Masjid, Lagos on 30th May 1954 amidst prayer, joy and exhortation. The noble struggle of this antecedents was traced to the effort of the triumvirate of Tajudeen Adisa Aromoshodu, Sumola Akin Luguda and Abdurrahman Alade Sahid of the then Methodist Boy High School, Lagos.

The idea of setting up an organization for Muslim students was born out of Muslims’ desires to safeguard their religious fundamentals, culture and identity from the twin effects of forceful evangelization and alluring Christian activities. As such, Muslim students had to study under the tutelage of Christian missionary society schools. The prevalent situation at that time necessitated Muslims to study under a very hostile environment where some of those students were reported to have changed their religion. Others who were steadfast and were willing to pursue their academic activities were forced to change their names.

The Society’s structure is pyramidal, starting with the Board of Trustees (BOT), National Executive Council/National Working Committee, Zonal Coordinators: ‘A’ and ‘B’, Area Units, Area Councils and the Branches (schools).

In line with the above, the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria - Niger State College of Education, Minna is one eight (8) Higher Institutions branches under

Moreover, The Branch Leadership is is administered by an appointed Shurah Committee Who are giving the Mandate to call for appointments from members within the Institution To be nominated as Executive Members. However, for effective administration of the branch that has up to thousands of Muslim Students as members; it has been divided into six (6) Schools as we have in the College headed by a School Coordinators. The branch was saddled with the responsibility of spearheading the spirituals , academic and Welfare of Muslim Students in the institution to some Maximum extent.
